Car Conversations with Jersey // Father & Son Bonding Time
One Of My Favorite Things as a Parent
One of the greatest joys I have in my life is spending time with my children and bonding with them. One of the positives that have come out of this time of self-isolation, is that we get to spend more time at home with the kids. But, I still like to take one or a couple of the kids with me when I run errands just to get some time to connect with them even more. I recently went on another car ride with my main man, Jersey, and talked with him about what his opinions are these days. You can watch that video here. If you have a toddler, you know that they are constantly learning and changing the way that they think about things. So, I try to make sure that I have some one-on-one time with him as often as I can so we can have our ‘guy talks.’
Our Youngest is Growing Up
Jersey is just reaching an age where he is actually thinking about his answers to our questions rather than just blurting out what first comes to his mind. He’s beginning to understand the concept of opinions and we work to make sure he knows that what he thinks is important, is important to us.
He is also developing a sense of his own morality. When I asked him what his favorite animal was he, unsurprisingly, told me that tigers were his favorite. When I asked him what his least favorite animal was, he thought for a while before stating that he didn’t like fighting tigers. Now, we all know that in the animal kingdom, tigers are going to get aggressive. But, Jersey at age two, is already recognizing that fighting isn’t something he finds good. If you pay attention to some of our recent videos, Jersey has made it clear that he thinks we should be nice to everyone. I know I’m biased, but I think my kid is leaps and bounds ahead of some of the “smartest” people in the world.
Want to See More Car Conversations?
We have about six videos of Jersey and me in the car just chatting and we have created a playlist here so you can find them all a bit easier. I encourage you to go back to our first one and watch Jersey grow up a little (lot) bit. I am so proud to be his Dad and I can’t wait to have more conversations like these as he grows up.
How do you approach one-on-one time with your kids, especially if you have more than one? Do you think taking time to have chats like these are worth it? Do you think Jersey can get any cuter?
